Blog #6: Pregnancy and Childbirth

Answer one of the following questions OR you may discuss the topic of your choice (must correspond with information covered in the Module 6 readings).

• Interview a woman on her decision to have children or be “childless” (may be temporary). Summarize her response and your thoughts regarding your interviewee’s response. Note: you may discuss your own thoughts on having children instead of conducting an interview. (Do not use this question again if you already answered it in Module 5)
• Should prenatal testing be routine for all pregnant women?

Respond to the following on your blogspot and leave comments to at least 2 of your peers on their blogspots.

• Should sex education be taught in the nation’s public schools, and if so, what kind of education should be provided? (Abstinence-only? Abstinence-plus?)
• When you went through menarche (first menstrual cycle), was it a positive experience that was celebrated by you or your family? Or was it a negative experience (shame, embarrassment, fear, etc)?

Respond to the following on your blogspot and leave comments to at least 2 of your peers on their blogspots.

To complete Blog #3, login to your Blogspot. Answer one of the following questions OR you may discuss the topic of your choice (must correspond with information covered in the Module 3 readings).

• Read the self-assessment on pg 84. How would you rate your “preventive practices?” What are some ways in which you can improve your health? What preventative practices do you already implement? OR
• How can we encourage adolescents to follow healthy behaviors? Any ideas for parents, healthcare providers, health educators, media, society, etc?

Blog #2 Healthcare

To add a new post to your Blogspot (you must be logged in to your Blogspot), click on "New Post" in the top right hand corner of the screen.

Please answer ONE of the following questions in your blog OR you may choose another topic to discuss as long as it corresponds with Chapter 2 in your textbook.

1. When preparing your news article on the economics of women’s health care in the U.S., did you find any of that information to be alarming or surprising?
2. Do you believe that access to healthcare is a right or a privilege?

Blog #1: What health issues are you most concerned about?

Post your thoughts on health issues you are most concerned about. Then, interview 2-3 women (different ages, ethnicities, cultures) and ask them the same question. Are your concerns similiar or different? Explain.

To set up your own account in blogger.com is easy. Just follow the simple set up directions and customize your page according to your own taste. You may visit Photobucket.com to upload one of your own digital pics and "host it" from that site to use on your blogger profile. Please do not include any personal information on your blog space in terms of your address, phone number, or id. Your blog should reflect your thoughts on the course content, and while I want you to be creative, please refrain from profanity or nudity. Leave feedback for at least 2 of your peers each week.

To create and post your blog each week:
-Click on "New Post" at the top right corner of the screen.
-Clearly label your blog each week. Your title would be: Blog #1 (or whichever number corresponds to that week).
-You can add an image to your blog, if you desire, by clicking on the picture icon at the top right of the editing toolbar when you are composing your Blog.
-To view a classmate's blog and post a comment:
-Click on a URL posted by a classmate in the BlogSpot Discussion Board forum in our Women's Health Blackboard course.
-To post a comment to a classmate's blog, click on the title of their blog, then click on "Post a comment" or click on "O comments"
